Bruce Humphrey

Class of 1972

Bruce was vice president of his senior class. He was active in the Concert Band all four years as well as Marching Band (freshman, sophomore, and junior years) and he played in the orchestra for the musicals when not performing.


Bruce graduated from the Miami University Oxford with a B.S. in Radio, TV, and Film in 1976. While at Miami, he worked in many phases of production, news and on-air programming (disc jockey/board operator). He also produced numerous radio dramas. He graduated Indiana University in 1979 with a Master of Science in Telecommunications. While in grad school he worked on the feature film “Breaking Away” and at WMAQ-TV in Chicago.


Bruce then graduated from the Director’s Guild of America Producer Training Plan in 1982 and has been a member of the DGA since. He continues to speak at Assistant Director’s Training program seminars and mentors students and graduates pursuing careers in the film and television industry.


Bruce’s credits include: Assistant Director on Dr. Vegas, The Practice, Prey, Sliders, Timecop, Sisters, and Quantum Leap. His feature film credits include: Assistant Director on The Vagrant produced by Mel Brooks, directed by Chris Wallas; Big Business starring Better Midler and Lilly Tomlin, directed by Jim Abrahams; and Blue Screen/Optical Effects Unit and 2nd Unit for The Lost Boys directed by Joel Schumacher.


Bruce resides in Studio City, CA with his wife Deborah.  They have two children.
