Dottie Haas

All Star Instructor

Mrs. Haas comes from a family of educators. Both of her sisters and she graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Mrs. Haas attended Morton Jr. College for one year before transferring to Miami University where she became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in June, 1949. She received her Masters of Education degree from Xavier University.


She spent over 33 years teaching Mathematics – 28 of them at Finneytown High School. She joined the math department at Finneytown in 1968 serving 11 years as department chair. While at Finneytown she was the advisor for the National Honor Society, a representative to the Finneytown Educational Association where she served as president for many years. Additionally, Dottie has been a member of the Finneytown Schools Education Foundation, Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Hamilton County Retired Teachers, American Legion Auxiliary Greenhills, Forest Park Women’s Club, and Finneytown Retired Teachers Group.


Since retirement in 1996, she has remained involved with civic and educational issues as well as volunteering for several school levies, judging at polls and work with Meals On Wheels.


“I loved and enjoyed teaching mathematics,” Dottie says. “[I hope] that my enthusiasm and interest in math reflected in my students. Knowledge of math is the key to open the door to a field of opportunities.”
