Dan McNeal

All Star Instructor

Mr. McNeal retired from teaching at Finneytown in 1984. He initiated the physics program for the then “new” high school and developed the lab facility. He also taught IPS and other introductory science courses for both junior high and high school students. He worked with elementary teachers in the 1960’s to develop a process approach to science programs and with a K-12 Gifted and Creative Committee. He was the boy’s basketball coach (freshman, reserve and junior high) from 1966-1984.


Mr. McNeal has been awarded the DuPont Science Summer Fellowship. Additionally, he has been recognized and awarded: General Electric Physics Summer Fellowship, six National Science Foundation Fellowships, Ohio High School Basketball Association Hall of Fame Awards (Boys 1983, Girls 1992).


He and his wife, Dorothy, raised three children – all Finneytown graduates.
